Because of Claire's nostalgic ties to the island, it was important that the suite captured its unique charm. All of the activities and icons of the island are represented with custom illustrations on the belly band: the giant chess set, Adirondack chairs, the dinner bell, a campfire, a canoe and oars, a billiards set, croquet, and a bathing suit.
Their ceremony would be taking place on the lawn with a view looking out across the lake. I painted this setting for the main invitation card.
As a nod to the bride's creative profession as a concert pianist, I designed a music-inspired monogram. C (represented by the bass clef symbol) and S (represented by treble clef) represents Claire and Stephen as each other's accompanying hand in piano music.
To get to the wedding, guests would travel by boat across Red Cedar Lake, where a picturesque boathouse nestled among trees welcomed them to the island. A wide landscape painting of this boathouse spread across the inside of the trifold details card gave guests a glimpse of the island.
One of Claire & Stephen's favorite things on the island are the Adirondack chairs. For their envelope liner, I painted a peaceful scene of two chairs looking out across the lake at sunset.
